Activities and Service Projects
Peg Wright, Founder and President/CEO of the Center for Great Expectations will be our guest speaker at the Flemington-Raritan Diner. Peg will update members on the work of the Center and explain about volunteer opportunities available for interested members.
We will introduce our fundraising efforts for this coming year. These include a Touchstone Jewelry sale and Sammy Shine gift cards. Dena Breslin, from Touchstone Crystal, will be on hand with a display of items available for purchase to benefit our scholarship fund.
This dinner meeting at The Clinton House in Clinton will provide sisters with opportunities for fellowship and festivities for the holiday season.
Held in the home of one of our members, this activity introduces initiates to the sisters of our chapter in an informal gathering.
A special activity for sisters' socialization, learning, or enjoyment is planned. In the past, activities included making cordial liquers and stamped labels/gift tags, painting ceramic pieces, and touring local historic buildings.
Blankets for Babies
Join the assembly line as we make blankets for the babies at the Center for Great Expectations. This event is held in concert with our annual potluck picnic.
Sisters participate in community activities through working with Project Storybook at the Edna Mahon Correctional Facility for women. As the Rho Sisters record, the inmates read books and share messages with their children, grandchildren and other young family members. The books and tapes are then mailed to the children. This link with home through literacy enables the inmates to serve as role models in building literacy and enables the children to hear their mothers’ voices although they are far apart.
